Got the Gold!

My Gold Medal Winning French Market Bag!

After posting the other day that I was near completion, my camera went on the fritz so I couldn't post my winning entry! Here it is...my new knitting bag ready and waiting for my next project which is toe up socks!

Just wish I could take better pictures. Everyone loves it. Don't think I'll do another big project for a long time (unless its the mary poppins bag which I love!). Plan to stick with socks, scarves, etc. and dying to try some of the mittens everyone has done.

By the way...the nippl*age did go away with felting and blocking. Whew!

The end is in sight!

So, I've been going thru ups and downs. Why in the heck did I choose such a big project? Why not toe up socks which I've never done?! Ahh well. The end is in sight. I chose to use 3 colors rather than two, so the knitting hasn't been quite as boring as it could have been. This morning before work I finished the knitting the straps and weaved in all the loose ends. Now I just need to kitchener them closed tonight after everyone goes to bed (FINALLY, some time alone). Tomorrow I plan to felt! YAY!

Ohhh. Cats ate my circular. Even though they are metal, my cats love them and they always manage to take them. This time I guess they got frustrated and just chewed it in half because it was still attached to the bag. Didn't have another the right size so put my trusty dpns to use and knitted the straps with them!

Flying along

Once I got into the stockingette part of the body of the bag, I've been flying along. Now just trying to decide how deep to make the bag, and if I have enough yarn for it. I don't know what possessed me to buy only one skein of the green. Sighhhhhh. Pictures tomorrow!

Whoo Hoo!

I'm glad to finally be able to cast on. I had to go buy more needles today, one size smaller to be able to hit guage. Decided not to swatch again and just cast on as soon as I got home. Family has
plans for me this evening so probably won't get alot done which is a tad irritating. Don't they understand how important the knitting olympics are?!

Knits and Grins

Hi and welcome to my new blog Knits and Grins. I'm a new knitter, so you'll be subject to all of my knitting experiences. SO, no matter how many times I have to rip out and re-do something, you're going to have to read about it. Hopefully you'll get a few grins along the way! Paula
